There are a variety of fabrics that can be used when making a bed, each providing a unique look and feel. The quality and type of fabric can provide additional benefits to your sleeping solution - added health properties, moisture dispersion, cooling technologies or anti-static capabilities. The fabric "style" can be influential when purchasing however remember that in general it will be covered with bedding.

Knits are made from soft fabric with greater elasticity providing strong shape retention and overall warmth.

A comfort layer is the layer that you lie directly on. These layers are used individually or in combination to provide a specific feel to a mattress - firm, medium or plush. The order and size of these materials changes the feel profile and determines whether the individual sleeps on or in the bed. Our comfort layers include a variety of NZ manufactured comfort foams, visco memory foam, NZ wool, silk and latex.

Latex is a highly durable natural material with open cell structure which gives superior "bounce-back" and allows air to circulate through the mattress which helps dissipate moisture and heat build up.
Viscoflex foam is a memory foam that conforms to the shape of your body providing pressure relief, support and aid in natural spine alignment.
New Zealand wool provides warmth and a natural comfort solution.
Silk is combined with New Zealand wool for added luxury and comfort.

The mattress core provides the core support of the mattress and can be made of foam, springs, latex or memory foam. There are a variety of springs in the marketplace from the more traditional Bonnell hour glass shaped springs to pocket springs that are individually wrapped for less partner disturbance. Our Simmons Beautyrest collection utilises the world famous Super Pocketed Coil for greater conformability, durability and motion separation. Latex and memory foam based mattresses have a more specialised feel profile by giving a softer support to the body. Each provide their own feature and benefits to suit individual needs.

Our Dunlop Living slat mattress range has been designed to perform on any slat frame while our Simmons Beautyrest pocket spring slat mattresses must be only be used on a fixed slat frame.
